CSR
As a company, we’re close to our roots and closer still, to our people. Our CSR activities are focused on the micro population around us and our efforts include ensuring basic essentials and sustainable livelihoods for them.
Furthermore, we believe in constancy of aim and effort. Our CSR drives are periodic, planned and designed to provide immediate relief as well as effect a lasting change.
We also take an active part in disseminating the relief material to get a first-hand understanding of the situation at the grassroots level. We interact with the people we support to get a better understanding of their immediate needs and also offer sense of reassurance to them. The process is therapeutic.
Distribution of Food
We’ve been actively involved in the distribution of food and essential ration kits to the marginalized sections of society.
Making ends meet has been quite a challenge for a large section of our population. The daily-wage labour class often find it difficult to fend for the entire family. Covid 19 has made this worse by denying them even the meagre daily wage.
We try to ensure that they have sufficient ration to put food on the table and the moral strength to keep going. A lot of the people we support through this food distribution drive are in some way connected to the textile industry.
Women empowerment
As a textile unit, we often have surplus materials or wasted fabric trims that can be put to good use. We divert these materials to local groups and collectives where groups of women turn these trims into beautiful accessories.
We not only provide the raw material free of cost, but we also provide the guidance and design supervision to ensure that the women are working in the right direction. Once the accessories and done, we buy the entire lot at a fair market price.
This serves as a significant and steady source of income for the women participating in the collective. It also skills them for intricate fabrication work that can be applied to various other elements and formats. The payments are immediate, and the change, is sustainable.
Supporting Cow Shelters
Owing to the cultural traditions and the prevalent political climate, cows have been of significant importance to the region. This calls for an active effort in ensuring their proper protection and wellbeing.
We work with one of Ahmedabad’s largest animal protection centres, (Jivdaya Jankalyan Parivar, Odhav, Ahmedabad) and provide regular aid to their dedicated cow shelter to augment their capability for housing and treating stray cattle and abandoned old cows.
We try to ensure that they have sufficient medical stock and equipment and the required staff to care for the animals there. We actively advocate for the cause and also direct the support from well wishers to further the impact.
